World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day is observed on the 28th of July since 2010 honouring the birthday of Nobel prize winner Baruch Samuel Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus. On this day, many events such as screenings, talk shows, demonstrations, and many others aim at increasing the awareness for this disease world-wide with the help of the World Health Organisation and the World Hepatitis Alliance. Hepatitis is responsible for the deaths of over 1.4 million people per year, this group of diseases can be classified from Hepatitis A though E.
