World Immunization Week

World Immunization week is recognized from April 24th to 30th every year. Immunization is observed as the most cost-effective and successful health intervention. Immunization prevents disability, illness, and death from vaccine-preventable diseases. This day aims to raise awareness about the critical importance of full immunization throughout life, and its role in achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Objectives of World Immunization Week

  • Aims to raise awareness among society members about the importance of immunization for prevention of disease targeted for immunization.
  • Some diseases such as polio, hepatitis B, measles and mumps can be eradicated with immunization through vaccines worldwide.
