World Kidney Day
World Kidney day is recognized on 9th march annually. On this day communities and concerned bodies organize events and campaigns in all parts of the world with the aim of increasing awareness about preventive behaviors, risk factors and about how to live with the kidney disease. Over 2 million people worldwide are receiving treatment in the form of dialysis and kidney transplant to fight kidney disease.
Objectives of World Kidney Day
- Educating medical professionals about their key role in reducing and detecting the risk of CKD, particularly in high risk populations
- Encourage Transplantation as a best-outcome option for kidney failure, and the act of organ donation as a life-saving initiative.
- Raise awareness that diabetes and high blood pressure are key risk factors for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
