World osteoporosis day is recognised on October 20th every year since 1996. On this day the International Osteoporosis Foundation dedicated itself by holding campaigns and events that aims in raising global awareness about diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease. Community events and local campaigns by national osteoporosis patient societies from around the world are organised every year in over 90 countries. Records of more than 10 million cases of osteoporosis are registered every year.
